Olga 28
An efficient 28' trailerable outboard cruiser with berths for 4.
These photos show Sytse Douna's Olga 28 Arnhem, which he launched in early June in North Carolina. A beautiful job of building.

The Boat
The Olga 28 is a trailerable power cruiser constructed with plywood and epoxy. The design was inspired by the classic power boats of the Pacific Northwest, while her construction takes advantage of modern materials to produce a lightweight, easily maintained boat. If you've been considering trailerable trawlers or small tugs, consider the Olga 28. She offers excellent performance and efficiency in a beautiful package.
Olga 28 Luna constructed in Germany by Friedbert and Monika Hennemuth. They fitted the boat with an inboard diesel and sail drive, and will cruise the canals and lakes in Europe. Click arrow for more images.
Olga 28 Tardis constructed by Paul Kessinger. Powered by a 90 HP outboard, she is cruising the US East Coast from Maine to Florida. Click arrow for more images.

The Olga 28 is a fuel-efficient trailerable, v-bottom power cruiser.
She evokes classic power cruisers from the Pacific Northwest, and is designed as the perfect boat for a couple (or a family) to cruise the Puget Sound or Inside Passage to Alaska. She would also be a great boat for cruising in warmer climates, where her spacious pilothouse will provide welcome shelter from the sun. She is built of plywood, over plywood bulkheads, frames and stringers. Builders have the option of using a traditional chine or using epoxy coving and biaxial tape ("liquid joinery" style); bulkheads and interior joinery can also be secured with cleats or epoxy and tape.
Power is supplied by an outboard (90 hp is recommended for a top speed of about 16 knots). The original uses an outboard in a well, and drawings are included for a transom mounted outboard. She can handle additional power if more speed is desired (the latest Olga 28 to be launched, Arnhem, made over 22 knots on her maiden voyage with a 115 HP outboard). An inboard diesel can also be fitted, either with a sail drive for lower speeds, or via a v-drive for higher speeds.

Comfort is important in a coastal cruiser.
The Olga provides berths for 4, 2 in the large forward double, and 2 on the convertible main cabin settee. The settee is raised for a better view while underway, and has generous stowage below. The galley includes sink, stove and refrigerator, while forward there is a private head and separate wash basin. The raised deck gives the Olga a remarkably spacious interior for her size.

The Plans
The plans for Olga include 13 sheets (24" x 36") and a 60 page construction guide with text and photos. The slideshow gives a preview of the plans. You can order plans below.
Buying plans
All plans are sold as PDFs. These are high-resolution files, and the same as I would use to print the drawings if I were to send paper copies. Why PDFs? Because this eliminates the cost and hassle of shipping, and allows you to print extra copies as needed during the build (and you will need to after a few epoxy, 5200, and coffee spills). They can be printed at most good copy shops.
